“My work has access to Charlotte Square gardens and nobody uses them. In the last 2 weeks I saw a woman walk her dog for 5 minutes. If these green spaces really are gardens you would expect to see them being used as such. They're not. Even on beautiful days they're empty.”

“They're not gardens for the people that live there though. It's an exclusive club. Even the people that live in the vicinity can't get access to them and they're always empty.”

“People defending the private gardens say they are just regular property's gardens, but instead of being at the back of the property, they are joined together somewhere else. But this can't be true of Dean Gardens right, as most of the eligible properties around the area are houses with gardens attached anyway (dean/oxford/eton terrace etc). Look on google maps and even the properties at Randolph crescent, Moray place etc have back gardens. And people who are eligible can't even access Dean gardens due to waiting lists, even when the gardens are deserted.”

“There are other private gardens, such as Dean Gardens. The ownership of these is not directly tied to the deeds of surrounding properties. Ultimately, the current owners decide who gets into them (like any private garden), and there are minimum criteria to be met.”
